Engine Specs for Toyota Avalon 2013

When Toyota pulled the wraps off the all-new 2013 Avalon sedan at the New York Auto Show this past April, it shared many general details about the fourth-generation model but didn't say a word about the powertrain options. Now, the time has come for Toyota to disclose that the new Avalon will arrive in dealerships later this year with a choice of two engines, a regular V6 gasoline unit and for the first time in the model's history, a fuel-efficient hybrid system.
We'll start with the Avalon Hybrid, which borrows its powertrain from the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Lexus ES 300h and as such, links a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine to a 244.8-volt nickel-metal hydride battery pack and a pair of electric motor/generators within the transaxle.
The Avalon Hybrid achieves a combined output of 200-horsepower with a peak torque of 200 lb-ft (271 Nm).
According to Toyota, the hybrid model returns an EPA-rated fuel economy of 40 mpg (5.9lt/100km) in the city, 39 mpg (6.0lt/100km) on the highway and a combined 40 mpg EPA-rating.
The Avalon's Hybrid Synergy Drive technology offers three modes of operation named EV, ECO and SPORT. In EV mode, the sedan can run on pure electric power for a distance up to one mile (1.6 kilometers) at speeds of up to 25mph (40km/h).
The styling differences between the regular Avalon and the Hybrid model appear to be limited to the blue outline on the Toyota logos.
The standard 2013 Avalon is powered by Toyota's 3.5-liter V6 engine rated at 268 horsepower and 248 lbs. ft. of torque, matted to a six-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels.
Toyota says the V6 will propel the new sedan to 60 mph (96km/h) in under seven seconds and return an EPA-rated fuel economy of 21 mpg city, 31 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined.
The new 2013 Avalon will be built at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky (TMMK) plant in Georgetown, with prices to be announced.

Chevrolet Trailblazer Over Door Switch Fires


Toyota isn't the only automaker being probed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) due to reports of door fires.
In a similar but separate action, NHTSA has intensified its investigation into fires originating in the driver's master power window switch of the 2006-2007 model year Chevrolet Trailblazer SUVs.
The agency said it upgraded the investigation into 341,786 Trailblazer SUVs to determine whether the 2006-2007 model year vehicles contain a defect that presents "an unreasonable risk to safety".
According to the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI), General Motors presented 167 reports and 698 warranty claims that related to the alleged problem, while ODI received 83 complaints, 66 of which allege the door module had melted or burned, and the remaining 17 stating that the window switches acted erratically or were inoperative.
The safety agency added that 28 of the reports received have led to driver door fires, some of which allege the vehicle was keyed off and unattended.
NHTSA said it will also look into the Trailblazer's sister models, including the GMC Envoy, Oldsmobile Bravada, Isuzu Ascender, Buick Rainier and Saab 9-7X, to see if there have been any reports for the same problem.

Car audio installation is a fairly specialized job, requiring at least some knowledge about the basics of car designs and electronics. The final audio output depends to a large extent on good installation. You may buy the best equipment, but if it is not properly installed, then the result will be poor. The entire set up consisting of wires, amplifiers, alternators, and speakers would have to be perfectly set up for that great audio effect.
Speaker location is perhaps the most important part of setting up your car audio. Determining where you are going to place your speakers is the first step you have to take. The designs of cars are such that the listener isn't placed perfectly in middle of the two speakers. What we mean to say is that the distance between the left speaker and the left ear is not the same as the right ear and the right speaker, which is a traditional audio setup. You can easily avoid this problem by making the distance between the left and right as little as possible. Some people try to place an extra speaker on the dashboard. The problem with this is that this speaker on the dashboard rips the sound into two, making for unpleasant hearing. You can try placing the audio in different locations around the car and arrive at the proper configuration for your speakers. Another mistake which commonly occurs is that people tend to go for looks rather than the sound, when it comes to car audio. Try to listen, rather than look. Some unlikely places inside your car may be the best for placing speakers.
